Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced the name of their first born. The tot will be officially known as His Royal Highness Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor of Sussex.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared the name on their Instagram profile. They said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion.”
Allegedly, the couple waited until today to announce the name because he sought aproval from the Queen.
Her Majesty, along with Prince Philip met the royal tot today.
Meghan and Harry welcomed their son on Monday, May 6 at 5.26am.
A statement from the Palace said: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs this morning. The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz. The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth.”
The announcement for the name was followed with a picture of the Queen, her husband, Doria Ragland and the Sussex family along with the newborn.
Today the couple showed Archie to the world for the first time. Although he got his name, the baby is widely known by its nickname, Baby Sussex.
Archie is seventh in line to the throne, behind Prince Charles, the Cambridges and his father.
Prince Harry was the one who officially announced his son’s arrival at a press conference he called. He said: “I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy early this morning.
“A very healthy boy. Mother and baby are doing incredibly well.
“It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever possibly have imagined.
How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension.
“Both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support from everybody out there.”
