Royal expert claims that her Majesty is preparing a special surprise for her husband’ 98th birthday today.
As the Duke approaches the golden age of 100, his 5 years younger wife is preparing something to mark his birthday. According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams: “Undoubtedly the Queen and others of his family will prepare a special surprise for him to celebrate.
“He spends much of his retirement at Wood Farm cottage on the Sandringham estate. My bet is that this most active of Consorts will, if the weather permits, do something active to celebrate.
“He was carriage driving at the Royal Windsor Horse Show last month and may well again today.”
When asked about the Duke’s secret to long life, he said that he “loves being busy” despite his retirement.
He added: “It must also be very enjoyable for him to choose which engagements and events he attends. It then adds an extra cachet to them when he appears.”
The Duke of Edinburgh has been married to the Queen since 1947. The couple tied the knot on November 20 with a permission from the Queen’s father, King George VI.
Their everlasting love is marked with their four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. The two of them are married for 71 years.
The Queen’s husband retired from public duties in August 2017. During his royal carreer, he completed 22,219 solo engagements.
The Duke had many surgeries during his life, but despite them he seems to have a great health. He had abdominal and hip surgery, bladder infections and a blocked coronary artery caused many hospital visits.
